October 2004 Tour of Finca La Abundancia

Come walk with me through Abundance Farm. (Dame una vuelta a través Finca La Abundancia.)

We will start at the unfinished house.  (Comenzamos a la hacienda inacabada.)

Nearby is the location of the well and the generator house.

At the well, these gentleman are hanging around trying to determine the depth of the water.

Inside the generator house is the broken generator.

In the same neighborhood is the old kitchen and some fruit trees.  (Tambien aquí hallamos la cocina vieja y varios arboles frutales.)

Ismael says, "Man, we have got to get this place cleaned up and running.  Have I got some ideas for you!" (Dice Ismael, ¡Hom', arreglamo' la finca bien pronto, sea barbara, tegno ideas para ti!)

Come on, let us get moving.  like road throughout the countryside, this road within the property is eroded.

Look, the coffee has some beans.  But it won't produce well, because these trees are quite old.

What will produce is these beans.

These laborers on the farm agree.  They know it is the beans that pay.  (Los campesinos trabajando estan de acuedro.  Saben, los frijoles son los rentables.)

Here are a few more fields at the farm.  (Aquí hay algunos campos de la finca.)

At the lowest part of the farm is some open pasture.

At the horizon, the lighter shade of blue is the Ocean 10 or 15 miles away.  The darker shade of blue just below is land. (Miras al mar.)

Then we walk or ride bikes 2 km to the bus.  Sometimes they are full and we have to sit on top. A veces estan llenos y necesitamos sentarnos encima.)

Half an hour or so later, we arrive back at the little house in Dolores, the town base for Abundance Farm.

You can go inside and see that some people are not working:  Peter and lawyer Julio.

Meanwhile, lawyer Izayana is hard at work.  (Mientras Izayana trabaja bien fuerte.)
